Larry Titus Music Biography
I taught myself guitar when I was 14, back in 1964. My first “real” band was The Wild Ones out of Bloomfield (CT) which turned into a popular band, going up against The Wild Weeds. It became obvious that the band needed a bass player and I relinquished my guitar and took up playing bass. This continued even though I left The Wild Ones, played bass in college and even taught bass guitar at a local music store.
Eventually I sold the bass gear and went into the Broadcast Industry, as a DJ and an engineer, working my way up the corporate ladder until I stared my own professional audio/video equipment manufacturing company in 1988.
Several years ago, I got the bug again and started getting back into the “bottom end” of music and, after hours and hours of practicing, I am a bass players who is in demand. I play bass in several bands and am a “Gun For Hire” for bands needing a quick bass substitute. I also play in duos and trios, including Bomb Shelter Band Lite, Gene Donaldson Trio, and Robert J, among others.
I have played before crowds of over 8,000 people and on cruise ships. My latest venture is harmonizing along with the lead singer in my bands. A real challenge to play one thing and sing another!
